01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

When you need a substantial midday meal in Kyobashi, the lunch menu at Usshisshi is a compelling place to start. Served on a sizzling iron hotplate, the hamburg steak lunch lets you choose between Japanese-style and Western-style sauces, complete with free refills of rice. The offerings shift with the seasons: summer brings a refreshing cold noodle lunch paired with a small side bowl of simmered beef sinew over rice, while winter introduces a house-special jan-men featuring a thick, spicy, savoury broth that practically begs for a scoop of rice at the finish. With limited-quantity yaki-suki lunches and Wednesday-and-Friday-only yakiniku specials, the options readily match the day of the week and your appetite.

Textured Offal and Choice Beef Selections

Come evening, the grill is dominated by the restaurant's signature airy-textured offal cuts alongside an array of rarer selections. Beside mainstays like large intestine (daicho) and first stomach (mino), the lineup highlights cuts with distinct characters, including mino-sando with its ribbon of fat, beef heart (kokoro), sweetbreads (shibire), and tongue sinew (tan-suji). Lean and select beef cuts are equally well represented, featuring enticing choices such as ichibo (rump cap), rump, kurashita (chuck roll), kamenoko (lower round), and rib-maki.

To balance the rich marbling of the meats, the drinks list includes wine alongside shochu, sake, and makgeolli. Despite being situated on the 1th basement floor of the building, the dining room is equipped with dedicated smoke extractors to keep the air comfortable. Weekday evenings run until 23:30, making it an adaptable spot for everything from a post-work drink to a relaxed dinner.
